Neck Salts: How to Protect Yourself

Osteophytes in the neck or salts as we are commonly called, are one of the many symptoms of cervical syndrome.

Depending on the severity of the syndrome, pain in the neck may extend to the shoulders, hand and head, causing headaches or dizziness.

How to prevent neck pain.

Take care of your body posture properly in daily activities, such as working long hours in front of a computer screen, driving, sleeping, etc.

• To prevent neck pain (and back pain), when your work requires sitting in the same position for a long time, you should get up and rest for a short time (5-10 minutes) every 30-50 minutes to avoid the known "grips".

 • Avoid watching TV or reading in bed using more than one pillow. It is most likely in the morning that you wake up with a headache or stiff neck.

• Select the appropriate mattress and pillow. An inappropriate pillow can cause cervical syndrome or even aggravate the existing one, as it supports the head and neck for many hours.

• When riding, be sure to keep your spine, shoulders relaxed and your neck just leaning forward, but make sure you move frequently in the seat.

If you feel systemic and persistent neck pain, dizziness, ringing in the ears or headaches that are not due to migraine headaches, you should consult an orthopedic or neurologist.
